DIY Wedding Ideas

Choosing the best diy wedding ideas is all about being realistic. There is no point in planning to make your own wedding flowers and learning the best tips and techniques for making wedding bouquets if you know you are a person who is easily stressed and will be in a panic in the few days before your wedding.

If that is you, and you don't have someone in your wedding party who is experienced and knows how to make wedding flowers in their sleep then take my advice and don't do it!

Yes, you could save money but for you the stress would not be worth it. Instead concentrate on diy wedding projects that can be made well in advance, don't wilt in hot weather and that you can easily delegate to the task to your bridal helpers!

Be specific in your instructions if you are getting others to help you.

It was only when I watched our wedding video I realized that my husband and his best man put the ribbons on his car after they arrived at the ceremony!

I had made them up, told him where to tie them, I assumed he knew they were meant to be on the car for his drive to the church! Don't assume anything, especially where men and ribbons are concerned!

Here are some diy decoration ideas that will keep it simple and save you money.

Make your own cupcakes for guests to eat instead of a wedding cake. These can be made in advance and stored in the freezer (unfrosted).

Use printed or silver paper cupcake liners and decorate the tops with simple white frosting and some light sprinkles.

Place a cupcake tower on each table and load them up for a delightful and edible do it yourself centerpiece!

Looking for a personalized wedding favor your guests can take home?

Grab your digital camera and have a friend take some shots of you and your husband to be in different poses and settings.

Choose your best pose and print off 2 x 3 inch pictures for each of your guests.

Put the pictures in a small acrylic or ceramic frames and place them around the tables, one for each place setting.

Of course, no do it yourself wedding decorations are complete without a trip to your local dollar store.

Streamers can be twisted and draped along table fronts and even on the walls. Plus you can pick up colored napkins, matching table covers, balloons and even artificial flowers and flower foam.

Don't forget the paper doilies and ribbon to wrap the traditional wedding fruit cake!
