Classic and quirky wedding updos

There are infinite possibilities for wedding updos. Each one will give a type of look from romantic, to sophisticated to natural. Decide which look to would like to achieve before you start looking at wedding hair updos.

Wedding Updos

It is also important to select your hair stylist carefully, not all hair salons do wedding hair.

You need a stylist who is experienced with hair style updo wedding, who is professional and can offer you advice about what will suit you. Ask your friends, colleagues or family for referrals and suggestions. You may want to meet with a few stylists before deciding on the one for your big day.

Once you have thought about the look to want to achieve, look for inspiration in magazines and on the internet. Keep any pictures you like to show your stylist, you can have several hair trials if you wish before your big day.

Wedding hair updos never go out of fashion as they are so elegant. Zara Phillips had an updo when she got married earlier this year. She wore her hair in a bun style with a royal tiara and veil. Lauren Bush recently wore her hair in an updo when she married David Lauren. She had quite a loose natural updo teamed with a gorgeous vintage headpiece that she wore across her forehead.

Braided updos are hot right now, many celebrities have been seen sporting them including Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba and Penelope Cruz. You can really make this style suit your own personality. It can feature a French braid wrapped around the head in a halo style, the ends of the hair are shaped into a bun or tucked under and pinned.

This style can be quirky and eccentric by styling it in a messed up fashion with a few loose strands. Or you can make it graceful and elegant with a very neat braid and slicked back hair. To accessorize this look wear some sparkly hair clips at the back of your hair. If you want to achieve this look but your hair is too short, don't despair you can buy headbands of braided hair to match your hair color.

Beehives have become popular wedding updos again. When they first became fashionable in the 60s they were really huge and not very practical. The modern day version is a smaller style, either quite loose and messy or very sleek.

A few celebrities still wear their beehive very big, but you don't really want your hair towering over everyone else at your wedding. Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian wear their beehive in a sleek sophisticated way. The most popular way to wear a beehive for weddings is the scaled down modern version. The hair is made very sleek and shiny using serum or shine products, and held in place with lots of hairspray.

Pompadour ponytails are quirky wedding updos for the modern bride that wants a funky style without any fuss. The pompadour also known as the pomp was named after Madame de Pompadour, the chief mistress of Louis XV. She wore huge wigs in the style we call the pompadour. It has been popular with men from the 1950s onwards as a rockabilly look; Elvis and John Travolta both wore the pomp.

Kelly Osbourne, Gwen Stefani and Megan Fox have all rocked this look recently showing ladies can look fabulous with the pomp too. The hair is backcombed to create a bump at your forehead, smoothed at the sides and gathered into a pony tail. You need to create lots of texture for this look, use a texturizing shampoo, and styling spray in your hair. Once your hair is styled keep it looking good with hairspray.

You can have a go at these wedding updos at home to see if you like the style for your wedding day. But leave the styling to a professional for the big day, you'll want an excellent finish and everything to stay firmly in place. Plus pampering is all part of the enjoyment of getting ready on your special day!
